“Schönberg is like a reflection on water, Webern is the thing itself.”

With the Emerson String Quartet, soprano Barbara Hannigan is performing a programme of compositions by Schönberg, Webern, Berg and Beethoven at Musikfest Berlin 2015. We asked her about singing Schönberg’s String Quartet No. 2, about her first encounter with the Second Viennese School and about differences between Schönberg and Webern.

The Emerson String Quartet and Barbara Hannigan will perform pieces by Schönberg, Webern, Berg and Beethoven on 10 September 2015, 8pm at Kammermusiksaal.
