Before its two-year world tour the ISM Hexadome opened at Gropius Bau in March 2018 – both a completely new tool combining immersive sound with a 360° visual exhibition and a new format, for which international sound and video artists such as the founding father of ambient music Brian Eno created commissioned works. Each new piece opened up a gateway to a world made of acoustic and visual details in which it became possible to experience the spatialization of sound.

To coincide with the installation “Empty Formalism” by Brian Eno, Thomas Oberender – Director of the Berliner Festspiele and Artistic Director of the Immersion programme series – spoke to the English musician, composer, record producer, singer and artist.

The video is available until 20 December 2021.

ISM Hexadome was developed by the Institute for Sound & Music in collaboration with the Pfadfinderei and ZKM | Zentrum für Kunst und Medien.
